And we’re there!!

So….a journey that started in November 2018 has finally finished! Prolonged by Covid 19, our smiles still couldn’t be bigger!

The last stage of our treatment was to have our attachments removed and then to be scanned and fitted with a retainer. Now I’m not going to lie, the attachment removal was not the most fun I’ve ever had! A bit like sandblasting on your teeth….not painful as such but not pleasant all the same!

I am completely thrilled with my end result! My upper and lower arches have both widened and my teeth no longer overlap. The result is not dramatic but to me it is the best feeling to have a smile I feel confident with!

Here are my before and after pictures….

Like I said not dramatic but thrilling for me!

The real change from this magic treatment can be seen in my daughter’s before and after….

Still beautiful

Her smile is even more beautiful now! And the gaps she hated so much are no more! Her treatment would have been done around the start of lockdown, but the anticipation has been well worth it for her.

All in all Invisalign has improved our smiles and our confidence with easy to manage steps and magical treatment!

A huge Thankyou to Dr Hopkins and her team at Devon Square Orthodontics for our new smiles.

If you’re reading this and considering Invisalign I say go for it!

Happiness is a beautiful smile and a warm puppy 😁

Locked down 😬

Well. What can I say about the last few weeks?

Bizarre! I suppose that just about covers it.

Like many people wearing Invisalign I have been unable to change up aligners as my ortho is (obviously) closed. I have been grateful for the online support which they have provided, but nonetheless it does mean that my treatment (along with everything else) has been on hold. I have been wearing the same aligners since lockdown began. Not nice. BUT in the grand scheme of things it’s ok. My teeth are still looking great and once things return a bit more to normal hopefully I can be re-scanned and start moving again.

Still smiling 🌈😁

My daughter has been on hold too. Her treatment is finished and her teeth look wonderful!! She is wearing her last aligner every night until we can get in to get her attachments removed and then she is done! She is so happy that her teeth are no longer gappy (ooh a rhyme lol) she hasn’t moaned once about her attachments!

Look at those gnashers!!

Not a glamorous picture but they look so amazing!

So . Lockdown. Can’t really complain when so many have suffered so greatly. A delay in our treatment really isn’t the end of the world. We WILL still have lovely smiles at the end.

Let’s keep perspective peeps.

Onwards and upwards .

Hey, The Rock, cos why not? SMILE 😊

Whatever happens. Keep smiling.

Hey! Happy hump day!

I am tired. There. I said it. This week has been tough so far. Then today, new aligner day, no new aligner! We tried it in surgery and Dr Hopkins suggested that I should stick with this one for another week, maybe two! I do agree as the new one didn’t feel right and my teeth aren’t ready. BUT a bit disappointing.

So despite my first world problems!! Not much to report. My daughter has moved on to her next tray with no problem. She only has 2 more after this one! I can’t believe she’s nearly done! Fingers crossed!

Right I’m off! Praps a little cry at DIY SOS will put my week in perspective! Have a good week!

Keep smiling!

Smile more, worry less.

Another week gone by! Pretty uneventful really, but here we are week 11! I feel very much in the swing of things now, I think it will feel odd when this journey is finished! I am so happy with my progress (and my daughter’s too), I am beginning to like my smile!

It seems an age ago that I struggled to take the aligners in and out! Now I just take them in and out without even thinking about it! Just a little tip for anyone considering Invisalign get yourself an Orthokey for the start of your treatment! I wouldn’t have coped without one!! Here’s a little video to demonstrate! (Don’t worry it’s not me!!)

‘You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile’

Well here we are. Another week has gone by. I can’t lie, I haven’t really enjoyed week 9. The tray has annoyed me this week and my mouth has been super dry, and I have felt like the aligner was too bulky in my mouth. I put the new one in this morning and straight away it feels more comfortable! Phew!

I’ve been a bit of a grump this week. I’ve got a slight cough and cold, on top of a dry uncomfortable mouth. Not fun. But something lovely happened yesterday which cheered me right up! Last Friday my daughter auditioned to be in a production of Fame with her drama group. As usual she had convinced herself that she wasn’t good enough and then the news came! SHE GOT THE PART! Cue her beautiful smile! (After much squealing!) she really is on a journey of finding self-confidence and a belief in what you can achieve. Finding her smile with Invisalign is just one part of this journey. I am so very proud and excited for her.

Despite being a misery this week I am still excited by the progress with mine and my daughter’s teeth, it really is fantastic! Below are 2 snapchat photos (sorry but I do love snapchat!) The first one is pre treatment and the second one is today with aligner 10 in, you can, I think, really see the difference especially in my lower teeth!

Anyway that’s enough waffle! Keep smiling everyone, have a good week. I’m off to watch ‘Vera’.
